Common questions

”My location isn’t showing on the map / it’s stuck”

GPS depends on a clear view of the sky. Indoors, under tunnels, in dense forest, or near tall buildings, the position can drift or freeze. A few things to try:

  1. Are you on the live convoy screen? Convoi only shares your position while you have the convoy open. The home screen does not share location with the convoy.
  2. Did you grant the precise-location permission? Settings → Apps → convoi → Permissions → Location → “Allow only while using the app” + “Use precise location” must both be on.
  3. Is the foreground service notification visible? On Android, when a convoy is active you should see a persistent notification saying “Convoi · konumun paylaşılıyor” / “Convoi · sharing your location”. If you don’t, swipe down the notification shade and check whether Convoi notifications are blocked.
  4. Restart the convoy. Tap “Leave convoy” then re-join via the invite code. The map view will re-subscribe to the realtime feed.

”Push notifications aren’t arriving”

This usually means Android is suppressing background processes for the app to save battery. Steps:

  1. Settings → Apps → convoi → Battery → “Unrestricted”.
  2. Settings → Apps → convoi → Notifications → make sure both “Convoy güncellemeleri” / “Convoy updates” and “SOS uyarıları” / “SOS alerts” channels are enabled.
  3. On Samsung / Xiaomi / Huawei devices, hunt for the manufacturer’s separate “Battery optimization” menu and exclude Convoi from it. Each OEM hides this in a different place.

”I can’t hear / be heard on the voice channel”

  1. Did you grant the microphone permission? Settings → Apps → convoi → Permissions → Microphone → Allow.
  2. Are you accidentally muted? Look for the mic icon in the voice sheet — a crossed-out mic means you’re muted, tap it to unmute.
  3. Are headphones / intercom paired and the device routes audio there? Disconnect and reconnect the Bluetooth audio.
  4. Is the convoy on a cellular dead zone? Voice needs ~50 kbps continuously per direction; 1-bar EDGE can’t sustain it.

”I lost my invite code”

Open the convoy from your home screen → the success-screen card shows the code, a QR, and an “Invite friends” button. You can also share the code from the live convoy screen’s top bar (orange “Davet kodu” / “Invite code” text).

”Can I use Convoi without sharing my location?”

Not really. Convoi is fundamentally about everyone seeing everyone else’s position on a map. If you don’t want to share location, sign out and use the chat-only features in another app (WhatsApp, Signal). When Convoi launches Phase 2 we may add a “ghost rider” mode that lets you spectate without sharing — see the roadmap.

”Can I delete my account?”

Yes. Email privacy@convoi.app from the address you signed up with, with the subject “Delete my Convoi account”. We delete within 30 days. See the Privacy Policy for what stays and what goes.

”Is Convoi free? Will there be a paid tier?”

Convoi is free during the beta and the early production phase. If we add a paid tier in the future, the current free tier will keep working — paid will only unlock advanced features (e.g. ride playback, extended location history, larger group sizes).
